How to Choose the Right Caftan Size (and Take Your Measurements)
Buying a caftan online is easy once you know your measurements. Traditional Moroccan clothing is generally cut with a comfortable, flowing fit, but the right size makes all the difference in how the fabric falls. Here is how to choose — or how to order a piece made just for you.
The measurements you need
You need a soft measuring tape and, ideally, someone to help you. Wear light clothing and stand naturally.
- Bust: around the fullest part of your chest, keeping the tape horizontal.
- Waist: around the narrowest part of your waist, usually just above the belly button.
- Hips: around the fullest part of your hips.
- Height: your height without shoes.
- Desired length: from the top of your shoulder to where you want the caftan to end (usually to the floor, with or without heels).
- Arm length (for made to measure): from the shoulder to the wrist, arm slightly bent.

If your measurements fall between two sizes, choose according to your bust and hips — the belt will adjust the waist. For djellabas, which are worn loose over clothes, you can choose your usual size or one size up.
The length
Traditional caftans and takchitas are long, often touching the floor. If you are petite, the length can be shortened; if you are tall or plan to wear high heels, mention it. Our pieces are finished by hand, so adjusting the length is always possible.
Made to measure: the best option
The beauty of a handmade caftan is that it can be tailored for you. On our product pages, choose the size “Made to measure” and write your measurements (bust, waist, hips, height, desired length, arm length) in the notes at checkout, or send them to us on WhatsApp. Our tailors usually need 3 to 10 days depending on the model.
If you are in Marrakech, the easiest is to visit the boutique: we take your measurements, and you can come back for a fitting before you leave.
